Minnesota Gophers: Jerry Kill Wants Wisconsin Shirts Banned

The Minnesota Vikings kickoff their preseason schedule in just a matter of days which means that football is finally back in our lives. Not that it ever really leaves our lives, because we, as a country, are just that obsessed with the ol’ pigskin.

Of course, this means that Gopher football is just around the corner as well. The Gophers kickoff the season against #2 TCU at TCF Bank Stadium on September 3. In front of that, Head Coach Jerry Kill met with the Twin Cities media on Tuesday and had some interesting things to say.

The most interesting and the one that is getting everyone’s attention is Coach Kill’s sense of style:

Kill is passionate about banning Wisconsin shirts from the Twin Cities and probably the whole state of Minnesota. While this will never happen, because free will and freedom and such and the fact that the Wisconsin border is closer to TCF Bank Stadium than about 90% of the state of Minnesota, it’s the right rah-rah thing to say.

This state has seemed to embrace Kill for a multitude of reasons. One, he is actually turning the program around. It took a horrible Tim Brewster tenure after Glen Mason was wrongly fired to get here, but the Gophers finally got here. Two, he seems like a normal downhome fella, like us. Even though Kill is from Kansas, he fits the Minnesota persona well which we freaking adore.

Kill is also an excellent speaker. I’m not saying that is downhome-ness is a front, but the downhome style does usually trigger a fatal impression in our minds of someone that is not the brightest star in the night sky. Kill is a pretty bright star.

Kill has turned around every program he has ever coached, he looks to be well on his way in his first crack at a true Division One school and he just said that he basically hates his team’s biggest rival. When Kill is done with this coaching thing, he can have a great job in PR.
