Minnesota Vikings: Mike Wallace wants a long ball
Don’t we all, Mike Wallace, don’t we all. The Minnesota Vikings acquired wide receiver Mike Wallace to be a deep guy this offseason and so far in the preseason, well, he really hasn’t gone deep. The Vikings have played three preseason games and Wallace has one catch for two yards, so far.
Fans want to see the long ball and so does Wallace, that’s what he told to the Pioneer Press.
"“Yeah, I want to see one, too.”"
Wallace said some of the reason we haven’t seen the deep ball is play calling and to keep some secret kaboomage for the regular season.
"“It’s kind of like 50-50. I want to give them something, but at the same time you want it to be kaboom when the regular season starts. But you kind of want to get it cranked up, so hopefully we’ll get something going this week.”"
The Pioneer Press also talked to quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and he also wants to get Wallace balling.

"“We do want to get Mike going heading into the regular season. He’s a guy who’s going to be huge for us in the pass game and the run game, and it’s going to force teams to give us different looks this year. So we definitely want to get him going whether it’s this week or definitely heading into Week 1.’’"
Side note on that Bridgewater quote, he just sounds more and more mature day after day which makes this season even more and more exciting for Vikings fans.
While preseason doesn’t matter and there are too many games, it would be nice to see something from Mike Wallace. The game coming this weekend should be a major tell of how Wallace will factor into the scheme in the all important, ignoring the Hall of Fame game, third preseason game.
