Minnesota Timberwovles: Karl-Anthony Towns is already a dominating force
On Wednesday, it was Ricky Rubio’s night. On Friday, it was all Karl-Anthony Towns. The amazing thing is that Towns is still a teenager. The teenager lead the Wolves to a 95-78 victory over the Denver Nuggets on Friday night.
How dominate was Towns? Towns scored 28 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and blocked four shots. That’s a kind of dominant that hasn’t been seen too often in Minnesota. In fact, only one other guy has done that kind of thing in a Wolves uniform.
Kevin Garnett has been the only other Wolves player with at least 28/14/4. Garnett has done that six times in his Wolves career.
Only he and one other player in NBA history have put up 28/14 as a teenager. That guy is LeBron James.
He’s also the youngest player ever to start his career with a pair of double-doubles.
Towns wasn’t just dominating in just one aspect. Towns was hitting jump shots, driving to the hoop and converting and also knocking down 6/7 from the charity stripe.
It’s only game two in his career, but Towns already looks like he could be a force to be reckoned with in the NBA. Towns has already turned himself into basketball’s version of Miguel Sano. When Sano is up to bat, you watch intently. When Towns has the ball in his hands, your eyes need to be glued to your television screen.
Phil Mackey of 1500ESPN brought this up Twitter and it got the conversation going:
I don’t know if I’m am ready to fully jump in that boat, but I am on the dock.

Andrew Wiggins is currently dealing with a back issue and still scored 18 points against the Nuggets, plus, he had shots that just didn’t fall and should have had closer to 28 than 18. We need to see a healthy Wiggins this season before I’ll already call him a sidekick.
Wiggins sure had an alpha game on Friday and he’s just going to get better.
The best player in franchise history for the Wolves is Kevin Garnett. The rookie starting next to him might soon be right behind in those rankings.
