Minnesota Golden Gophers remain winless in the Big Ten with loss to Penn State
The Minnesota Golden Gophers had a lead, but let it slip as they fell to Penn State on the road.
The Minnesota Golden Gophers had a four point lead going into halftime, but that wasn’t enough. Penn State outscored the Golden Gophers by 14 points in the second half leading to an 86-77 Penn State victory. The Golden Gophers held Penn State to only 32 points in the first half, but allowed 54 in the second half alone.
Joey King was back to his leading in the scoring column ways with a 22 point night. King went 4-for-7 from three point land. Nate Mason scored 19 and Carlos Morris had 15.
The Golden Gophers didn’t get a whole lot of production from the bench. The high scorer was Dupree McBrayer with four points in 18 minutes. Charles Buggs had three points in 12 minutes and Kevin Dorsey registered a single point in the contest.

The Nittany Lions has a pair of 20 point scorers on Tuesday night. Forward Payton Banks led the way with 24 points. Guard Shep Garner was right behind with a 20 point night. Forward Brandon Taylor just missed being part of the 20 point club with an 18 point game.
Penn State only had one bench player score and that was Deividas Zemgulis who had eight points. Zemgulis was the only Nittany Lions player to play over eight minutes off of the bench.
With the loss, the Gophers fall to 6-9 overall and 0-3 in the Big Ten.
