As the NBA Draft approaches, there are many directions the Minnesota Timberwolves could go with their number 5 pick.

As I have said before, this offseason will be a very important one for the Minnesota Timberwolves. The way they decide to go will either accelerate or decelerate their future. The right pick could make them contenders sooner than later.

There is a lot of speculation on who the Timberwolves will pick, or if the pick could be traded. There will be a lot of different theories. But, no one will know what is really going to happen until draft night.

The Timberwolves have worked out a number of prospects in Minneapolis and at the Draft Combine last week. There will be a lot of names linked to the team over the next month. As this is Tom Thibodeau’s first stint as a President of Basketball Operations and Scott Layden’s first stint as the Timberwolves General Manager, seeing the direction they decide to take this team will be something interesting to see.

The selection will tell us a lot about what the new front office and coaching staff think about certain players already on the roster. With a team full of potential and talent under the age of 25, they could add another weapon to the arsenal to grow with this team and help them compete for playoff berths and eventually championships over the next decade.

This article will discuss the different options the Timberwolves have the number 5 pick, their lone selection in the 2016 NBA Draft.
