Something that has been thrown around a lot of Minnesota Vikings fan blogs, should they go after the down and out Josh Gordon?

After almost coming back from his most recent suspension, Josh Gordon has elected to enter an impatient treatment program. Now his future with the Cleveland Browns looks like it is over. Should the Minnesota Vikings go after Gordon?

Josh Gordon has had problems dating back to his time at Baylor University. His most recent issues have put him out of Cleveland. New head coach Hue Jackson mentioned that the franchise would be “turning the page” on Gordon.

After missing 2 games in 2013, Gordon led the league in receiving yards with 1646. He also posted 9 touchdowns that season. Gordon has elite talent and athleticism to become a number one receiver on many teams in the league, but he has to be in the right situation.

Gordon’s problems go far back. From what we now know about the Baylor University culture, and what we have seen from the Cleveland Browns, maybe he needs a franchise with strong culture, morals, and leadership.

The Vikings have had players in the past with off the field issues and turned them around. With Mike Zimmer pushing a culture of hard work and togetherness, Gordon could flourish. This team is tight knit, and taking in a player who has lost his way could be just what Gordon needs.

Not to mention that Gordon would come on the cheap. After all the issues that he has gone through, they might have to part with a 7th round pick. Not to mention Gordon would come on a cheap, prove it type contract.

That way, if things didn’t work out, the Vikings would not be loosing much.
