With the Minnesota Vikings having the NFL’s worst rushing attack, Hall of Fame running back Adrian Peterson is said to be ahead of schedule in his rehab.

Over the last 8 weeks, the Minnesota Vikings have seen a stagnant rushing attack. It is actually the worst in the NFL and has a chance to be the worst in modern history. Things would most likely be different with Adrian Peterson in the backfield.

Since loosing Adrian Peterson in week 2, and a load of injuries across the offensive line, the Vikings have had trouble getting any kind of rushing attack going.

With Peterson receiving surgery on a meniscus tear, he was given a three month recovery time table. Most figured that would be something Peterson could conquer, as he has in the past with injuries.

Peterson is an athletic freak. He recovers from injuries like no other. He came back from an ACL tear in 8 months. That is why it is no surprise to hear that Peterson is ahead of schedule from his latest injury.

With the state of the Vikings offensive line, could Peterson even be effective? That is a question that we will not be able to answer until we see him on the field. I would not put it past him though.

Just the presence of Peterson in the backfield will cause opposing defenses to respect our rushing attack. They will most likely slide another defender into the box, which will open up things for the wide receivers.

The play action game will be something that could be huge for the Vikings down the stretch if Peterson comes back healthy.

Hearing that Peterson has been cleared to run and is ahead of schedule in his recovery is one good thing that Vikings fans can be thankful for this past thanksgiving. Sadly that might be one of the few things. Hopefully he will be back soon.
