With the weekly Minnesota Vikings media update, running back Adrian Peterson spoke with the press for the first time since his injury regarding his return in the 2016 season.

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has been down and out since week 2 when he injured his knee against the Packers. Peterson had surgery to repair his torn meniscus.

Known to be a quick healer, most expect Peterson to be back around this week or next. With the Minnesota Vikings literally needing to win out to be able to get a chance at the playoffs, Peterson is taking all of his options into consideration.

Today when speaking with the media, Peterson was quoted saying that he would come back if the Vikings were in the playoff hunt. He said that if the Vikings lose two more games, he would not come back this season.

The realistic chance of Peterson coming back if they lose even one game is very small. They will have to win out to have a chance at the playoffs.

Some will take this as Peterson putting himself before the team. To be honest, he probably is, and we can not be mad at him for it.

This is a contract year for Peterson, and to risk injury before the offseason playing just to play is something that would be to much of a risk.

Peterson has put this team on his back and carried this franchise for years, and he deserves to be able to put himself first. He still wants to play in this league and risking another injury this season when he might be looking for a new team next spring at age 32, would be something ridiculous to ask of someone.

Let’s hope that the Vikings can win out and Peterson can come back for the Green Bay game and help us make it to the playoffs.
