After a 3 and a half month recovery from a meniscus tear surgery, Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson tells DJ Skee on Skee Radio that he will play this Sunday at home against the Colts.

With the Minnesota Vikings most likely needing to win out to have a shot at the post season, Adrian Peterson just started practicing for the first time since his surgery this week.

Originally, Peterson had said that he was targeting the Packers game in week 16 for his return. Now after three days of smooth practice sessions, Peterson told DJ Skee on his radio show that he will play Sunday against the Colts.

This is great news for Vikings fans. Even with the injury tattered Vikings offensive line, just the presence of Peterson in the backfield will make opposing defenses add another player in the box. That will in turn open things up for the Vikings wide outs.

Another huge plus for the Vikings offense with the addition of Peterson is there will be more of a chance to convert of short yardage plays, which has been a huge problem for them this season.

Peterson is an athletic freak. He has come back from injuries like no other athlete we have ever seen. Hopefully Peterson has the type of return that he did after his ACL tear in 2012. After coming back from that injury, Peterson ran for over 2000 yards.

The offense will look different Sunday. Adding Peterson to the backfield will make the scheme different, but should be a good opportunity for Sam Bradford to utilize play action plays.

This is great news for Minnesota Vikings fans. Getting back one of the key franchise players just in time for a chance for the Vikings to make a run at the post season is great timing.
