After a blowout home loss Sunday against the Colts, the Minnesota Vikings seem to be out of the playoff race and it is time to start looking ahead to next year.

After this weekend’s embarrassing lose to the Colts, the Vikings season seems to be close to over. Yes, there are two games left, but the chances at the playoffs are slim to none. Our only hope is to go to Lambeau next weekend and end the Packers playoff chances. That would be the Christmas present I am sure we are all hoping for.

As we look at this season, although not over, no team have I ever seen so taken back by injury. Even the head coach missed a game with a detached retina. Especially along the offensive line. This team has had no continuity in the trenches.

Another key to this seasons fall, there was literally no production from this year’s rookie class. That is something that has not happened for multiple years in a row. This year’s draft class is so far looking like one that Spielman might not be praised for in the end.

Hopefully Laquon Treadwell will make more of an impact and start to understand the system more in year two. Hopefully the Vikings can also get some good use out of the 3rd, and 4th round pick they traded for in this upcoming draft.

With the draft coming up, most fans would be looking for their favorite first round rated prospect. For Vikings fans, that is not the case. With our first round pick traded away in exchange for Sam Bradford, the Vikings will start the draft in round 2(unless Spielman makes a trade to move up).

There will be a lot of people who will say this was a bad trade. In my opinion, this was the right move to make after losing Teddy right before the regular season.

Bradford has played well so far this season(besides yesterday). With the offensive line being in shambles, Bradford along with the offensive play calling had little to work with. Bradford made nice connections with Diggs, Thielen, and Rudolph.

Remember they way Bradford played against Green Bay, with less than 2 weeks as a Vikings? That was with us having a somewhat healthy line in front of him. From that game on, players were dropping like flies.

From an organizational standpoint, this was a move that had to be made. How would the Vikings open a new billion dollar stadium, and sell Shaun Hill to the fans as the quarterback who was going to take us to the promise land?

The front office also knew how good our defense was. They knew that we needed an actual starter in there, and not a career backup.

With all of the injuries we have endured,  the future looks bright. Most of the defense will be back next season, and we the focus should be to bolster the offensive line.

We will have to see what happens with Adrian Peterson, who came back just in time to fumble at the 10 on Sunday. We will also have to wait and see what the status of the long lost Teddy Bridgewater is next season.

It will be interesting to see what happens. It has been an emotional rollercoaster, but that is the normal life of a Minnesota Vikings fan right?
