Maya Moore scored 23 points and was named WNBA All-Star Game MVP on Saturday.

Three years ago, on this very website, I wrote an article about Minnesota Lynx star Maya Moore that was entitled: ‘Don’t let Maya Moore go unnoticed’. Three years later, I think many are still ignoring Moore while she is still dominating the WNBA. She dominated again in the WNBA’s All-Star Game on Saturday afternoon to win her second straight All-Star Game MVP award.

Moore led the Western Conference team to a 130-121 victory over the Eastern Conference in Seattle. Moore scored 23 points in 23 minutes played while also grabbing three rebounds and dishing out three assists.

On the season, Moore is not having her best season ever. Moore is only averaging 15.7 points per game which is her second lowest average in a season. Moore is having her second-best season in the assist category with an average of 3.8 per game. The former UConn Husky also is averaging 5.9 rebounds per game this season.

Moore’s teammate Sylvia Fowles appears to be the favorite to win the WNBA’s regular season MVP award. In the All-Star Game, Fowles scored eight points and grabbed five rebounds. Both Fowles and Moore were in the starting lineup for the Western Conference.

A pair of Lynx came off the bench for the West. Seimone Augustus had four points and two rebounds in 14 minutes played. Rebekkah Brunson scored 12 points with three rebounds in 13 minutes.

Lindsay Whalen was the only member of the Lynx’s starting five that didn’t make the All-Star Game.

The WNBA as a whole is now off for a few days as part of the All-Star Break. The Lynx next play on Tuesday when they host a home game against the New York Liberty at 7:00 from the Xcel Energy Center. The first game after the break can be seen on ESPN2.

Minnesota currently sits with the best record in the WNBA with a mark of 16-2. The next best record at the break is the rival Los Angeles Sparks who have a 14-5 record. The Washington Mystics, Connecticut Sun, Phoenix Mercury and New York Liberty are the only other WNBA teams with a winning record.
