It’s time for another edition of Sota Scribblings! Featuring quick hit thoughts and observations on the Minnesota sports scene from the, so called, site expert of Sporting Sota.

It’s a busy time in the Minnesota sporting scene which is always good for Sota Scribblings. The Minnesota Vikings have started playing some non-real football games, the Minnesota Twins are somehow keeping things interesting, the Minnesota Lynx are still being dominant and the fever around the Minnesota Timberwolves is still burning. It’s a fun time to be a Minnesota sports fan.

Minnesota Vikings

  • Nothing should ever be taken from a preseason game, but seeing Sam Bradford on his backside multiple times in the game against Buffalo was quite concerning.
  • Does Latavius Murray even make the squad? I’d be open to a backfield of Dalvin Cook and Jerick McKinnion and see if the Vikings can get some value for Murray.

Minnesota Twins

  • How does this team keep winning? It’s getting to the point of ridiculousness. I like it.
  • I’d be up for the Twins trying to bring back Bartolo Colon for another season next year. The team has done crazier things in the pitching department and Colon has pitched nicely for the team so far.
  • I’d really like if Roy Smalley was the full-time color commentator on the TV broadcast.

Minnesota Timberwolves

  • With the NBA schedule getting stretched out, the lack of bench depth will not be pronounced as teams are used to. That being said, I am still skeptical about the bench. Hopefully, Tom Thibodeau can pull a rabbit out of his hat with a veteran minimum deal somewhere.

Minnesota Golden Gophers

  • Tre Jones not picking Richard Pitino and the Gophers basketball team is a bummer. It is a sign the program is going in the right direction though that a top prospect had the Gophers in his final choices.
  • The ‘Being P.J. Fleck’ docu-series on ESPNU and Big Ten Network is fascinating. I’m all in on Fleck, but I’d suggest it to those who aren’t in on Fleck, too. The series is doing a good job of having Fleck explaining how he is what he is.

That’s it for this edition of Sota Scribblings! Stay tuned for more thoughts, observations and potential limericks on the Minnesota sporting scene!
