Minnesota Timberwolves strike gold with the return of Shabazz Muhammad
The Minnesota Timberwolves have finally added some depth to the bench with the re-addition of Shabazz Muhammad.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have had a heckuva offseason with the various additions highlighted, of course, by Jimmy Butler. The Timberwolves also lost a couple people in those moves; one of those was Shabazz Muhammad. Stop the presses, though, because Muhammad has returned to the team.
It is a great addition for the Wolves, too. The Wolves don’t have any cap space to play with, so there are having to fill out the roster with players coming in for the veteran’s minimum. Muhammad isn’t going to be the guy off of the bench, but in reality he is worth much more than the minimum.
The proof of that? Apparently, Muhammad turned down more money elsewhere to return to the Timberwolves.

The Wolves needed an offensive punch off of the bench and Muhammad can help that out. Muhammad is also a lot younger than most free agents still left in the pool that would be willing to sign at the veteran minimum. This resigning of Muhammad also sets up a possible extension next offseason which wouldn’t be a horrible idea with the crazy cap space restraints the club will have.
Plus, knowing the system that head coach Tom Thibodeau will be coaching is also a plus. The amazing thing is that Muhammad came back despite the fact that it looked like Thibs was not a huge fan of Muhammad at times last season.
Thibodeau and the Wolves still have a couple roster spots to fill with other roster minimum players, but none of those are going to be as good as the addition they made by adding Muhammad.
Welcome back, Shabazz.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are just a handful of days away from starting their training camp. This preseason the Wolves and Golden State Warriors will be traveling to China for some preseason games. Those will be some nice tune up matches for the Wolves before the regular season kicks off.
