Minnesota Gophers projected to reach Quick Lane Bowl
The Minnesota Gophers have returned to the world of being a projected bowl team.
Last week, our friends at Sports Illustrated didn’t have the Minnesota Gophers making a bowl this college football postseason. Oh, how things have changed, my friends. After the Golden Gophers rolled the Oregon State Beavers, the Gophers are back in the bowl projections from SI.
SI predicts that the Gophers will be rowing the boat all the way to Detroit on December 26 for the Quick Lane Bowl. The bowl pits the Big Ten Gophers against the ACC’s Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
Previously, SI had the Gophers heading to the Heart of Texas Bowl against the University of Texas at San Antonio and then last week not having the Gophers going to a bowl at all.
This week, SI finally has a Big Ten team break into the College Football Playoff. Sports Illustrated is projecting that the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Rose Bowl as a playoff team taking on Clemson. The other playoff is projected to be Alabama and Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl.

The Gophers, of course, increased their resume with a dominating win over Oregon State. The game allowed head coach P.J. Fleck to name Conor Rhoda as the team’s starting quarterback, coincidentally, Demry Croft is currently not with the team.
The bowl predictions and projections for the Gophers will come a lot clearer soon as the Gophers head into Big Ten play against serious opponents. Minnesota will start Big Ten play on September 30 with a game against the Maryland Terrapins. At last check, the Big ten opener from TCF Bank Stadium still has a too be announced time.
