Minnesota Timberwolves star Jimmy Butler looks to be starring in an upcoming Luke Bryan music video.

There are two things I am overtly obsessed with in my life: Minnesota sports and country music. It is fairly rare when those two combine, but they are coming together beautifully later this week. It appears that Minnesota Timberwolves star Jimmy Butler will be starring in country music superstar Luke Bryan’s upcoming music video.

The Timberwolves season is just starting and so is Bryan’s promotional push for his upcoming album ‘What Makes You Country’. The first single from the album is called ‘Light It Up’ and it is currently lighting up the country charts. Bryan shared a preview of the video for the song that will be released later this week and tagged Butler in the post. Butler can also be seen shooting some hoops in the short clip.

It is no secret that Butler likes country music. It has been brought up lately in a lot of Butler’s interview. Heck, it was brought up in Target Center during the game on Friday when during a stoppage in play a fan was given a multiple choice question of which member of the team liked country music. On the video board, a clip then played of members of the team listening to Bryan’s ‘Country Girl (Shake It For Me)’ and most showing faces of disapproval. Then Jimmy came on the screen listening to the song and exclaimed the excitement he felt when he heard the sweet sounds of Luke Bryan.

This isn’t the first time an athlete has starred in a music video and it won’t be the last. It is just a pretty darn big matchup. If you’re not into country music, Luke Bryan is a big deal. He’s one of the most popular, if not the most popular acts, in the genre.

It’s a fun combination for all involved. If you are a country music fan and a basketball fan like me, well, you are probably really excited for this. It’s not going to be groundbreaking, but it’ll be neat and fun. That’s what the entertainment industries of music and professional sports are all about.

Bryan’s new album will be out on December 8. Keep your eyes out for Butler in the ‘Light It Up’ video later this week.
