It certainly is frustrating that every game is seemingly this important in January. I don’t think anyone would have ever expected the Wild to fall into this hole but there is still time to recover.
Intermission: For as long as the Wild were in the same division as the Flames, I never developed much animosity towards them. I think it is because when they have been good we have been bad and vice versa. Now we are fighting them for a Wild Card spot so that may change some things.
20:00 left: Time for puck drop. Let’s get it on!
18:00 left: One of the toughest parts of live blogging a hockey game is trying to spell some of the hockey player’s names.
17:20 left: Finally a power play! Let’s go!
15:09 left: Poor power play. Oh well. Unrelated, one of the troubles with the later games on a weeknight is the creeping dread I feel about the work day slowly closing in on me.
14:29 left: As Anthony LaPanta just said, Jason Pominville has barely been denied on a couple of golden opportunities for goals tonight. Pominville may not be the greatest finisher, but he knows when and where to be.
11:45 left: Awww $#^*%$#!!! I thought Jason Zucker had one there! So did Zucker, incidentally.

9:15 left: Usually the refs give you the “area play” at the red line for icings, a la the area play at second base in baseball. Not the case for Matt Dumba there.

5:00 left: Football will always be my favorite spectator sport, but the tension in a close hockey game is almost unmatched.
4:18 left: My good buddy Matt is from Calgary, but he isn’t even fun to trash talk because he is so polite. Evidentally the “Canadians being overly nice thing” may be true.

Great, much needed win. If the Wild can beat the Canucks on Sunday, this trip could truly be a catalyst that propels them to the postseason. Anyway, thanks for reading and we will see you here again soon.
