Minnesota Wild Re-sign Mikael Grandlund, Prosser and Carter
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, it’s free agent season in the worlds of the NBA and the NHL. While the Minnesota Timberwolves probably won’t make much noise on the market this offseason, the fighting W’s across the river in St. Paul are hard at work resigning their own free agents.
The Minnesota Wild resigned a trio of players: center Mikael Grandlund, defenseman Nate Prosser and center Ryan Carter.
Because we love Minnesotans playing for Minnesota sports teams, both Prosser and Carter hail from the state of 10,000 lakes. Carter is from White Bear Lake and went to Minnesota State University, Mankato while Prosser is from Elk River and went to Colorado College (boooooooo).
According to the Star Tribune, Grandlund gets a two-year, $6 million dollar deal. It is seen as a short deal before Granlund demands more money and a longer contract. Russo gives the numbers of $2.8 million in 2015-16, $3.2 million in 2016-17.

Prosser also gets a two-year deal worth $600,000 in year one and $650,000 in year two. Carter is stuck with a one-year deal worth $625,000.
These are just the latest in a series of moves for the Wild after last week retaining their man, goalie Devan Dubnyk with a six-year contract worth $26 million and earlier this week getting University of Minnesota Golden Gophers standout Mike Reilly to a two-year deal worth $2.025 million.
All these signings are obvious positives for the Wild, a team that doesn’t look too far off from blasting through the playoffs.
