Minnesota Timberwolves get worst odds to win NBA championship from Vegas

The Minnesota Timberwolves and their fans might think the future is here for the team, but Las Vegas apparently doesn’t think it’s eminent. ESPN reports that Westgate Las Vegas Superbook has released their win totals for all NBA teams and the odds to win the NBA Championship and, well, it don’t look too good for the Timberwolves.

Five teams in the league are tied with the worst odds to win the championship at 300-1 odds. The Minnesota Timberwolves find themselves in that company. The Westgate has the Wolves projected win total at 23.5 games for the 2015-16 campaign.

The only other teams in the 20’s are the Brooklyn Nets (28.5), Denver Nuggets (26.5), Los Angeles Lakers (29.5), Philadelphia 76ers (21.5) and the Portland Trailblazers (26.5).

This means that Vegas predicts the only team worse than the Wolves this upcoming season will be the 76ers.

The being in the 20-win category doesn’t automatically put you in the worst 300-1 odds to win the championship. Those teams with the Wolves are the Charlotte Hornets, Orlando Magic, 76ers and Sacramento Kings.

Westgate gives the Cleveland Cavaliers the best odds to win at 2-1. Other high odds include: Golden State Warriors (9-2), Los Angeles Clippers (8-1), Oklahoma City Thunder (6-1) and the San Antonio Spurs (4-1).

The projected total for the Wolves would give them an over seven game increase from last season when Minnesota went 16-66 and had the worst record in the league with the New York Knicks winning one more game and Philadelphia winning two more than the Wolves.

Personally, I feel like the Wolves win total given by Westgate is too low. The Wolves are a young and upcoming team. I don’t think it’s likely that the Wolves will be fighting for a playoff spot, but they should be closer to 35-40 wins than 20.
