Minnesota Lynx: Fever spread it around, down Lynx in Game One of Finals
Something happened on Sunday afternoon that has only happened three times in history. The Minnesota Lynx lost a playoff game at home at Target Center. That game was Game One was the WNBA Finals against the Indiana Fever.
The game started off slow with both teams only scoring 10 points apiece in the first quarter, which was the lowest scoring quarter in WNBA Finals history. Indiana got a little bit of lead in the second quarter, it was a close game throughout, but the Fever held on to win 76-69.
To no shock to nobody, Maya Moore did her best to bring the Lynx to victory. Moore scored a game high 27 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked three shots, but it wasn’t enough. Center Sylvia Fowles scored 21, grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked three shots too. Fowles and Moore were the only ones truly producing offensively for the Lynx.

Hutchinson’s own Lindsay Whalen scored only four points and only dished out four assists. Seimone Augustus contributed nine points.
The Lynx seem to come and go with Rebekkah Brunson and it wasn’t a great day for Brunson. Brunson only had one point and three rebounds in the first game of the finals.
While the Lynx saw only a two woman wrecking crew, the Fever spread it out like it was a sickness. Briann January led the Fever with 19 points. January was one of five Fever players to reach double-digits in the points column. Four out of the five starters for the Fever did that.
Game Two of the WNBA Finals is scheduled for Tuesday at 7:00 from Target Center. You can watch all the action on ESPN2.
