It’s time for another edition of Sota Scribblings! Featuring quick hit thoughts and observations on the Minnesota sports scene from the, so called, site expert of Sporting Sota.

Minnesota sports look like they are at the beginning stages of a great crescendo. We are coming up on September and the Minnesota Twins are still relevant, for starters. The Minnesota Vikings should be, at a minimum, decent. The Minnesota Timberwolves and Minnesota Wild are setting up for playoff runs. It’s almost too good to be true. Let’s not think about that.

Let’s jump into some thoughts, observations and tidbits from around the Minnesota sporting world.

Minnesota Vikings

  • How did Blair Walsh think taunting the Vikings bench was a good idea? The Vikings gave the kicker so much extra rope to try and redeem himself, but he just managed to tie himself up in Minnesota. Jake Anderson wrote more about this, but Walsh should truly have no bad feelings about Minnesota.
    • Plus, it’s not like Walsh ended up with a horrible team. Walsh will be playing in the playoffs with the Seattle Seahawks. It’ll all be okay, Blair.
  • I am by no means a line play expert, but Pat Elflein looked great at center on Friday in Seattle. Elflein’s ability to take that job would greatly help the Vikings effort to sure up the offensive line.
  • The backups did okay on Friday night, but the Vikings really need to keep Sam Bradford healthy if they want to have any success this season.

Minnesota Twins

  • Not that we were likely to forget, but Byron Buxton is super fast. His inside-the-park home run was insane.
  • I’m very glad that Michael Cuddyer has been inducted into the Twins Hall of Fame. Cuddyer is one of my favorite Twins ever and I hope the organization finds ways to use him throughout the years.

Minnesota Timberwolves

  • NBA 2K18 keeps teasing out all of their new features such as All-Time teams. So teams that are filled with the 15 best players in franchise history. The Timberwolves could basically fill out the lineup with power forwards between Kevin Garnett, Kevin Love, Al Jefferson and Karl-Anthony Towns. Likely, Towns and Garnett will both be in that starting five with Towns at center and Garnett at the power forward.
